What Now? - The Question that Defined A Generation

I am not so sure that Ukraine would be full democracy since it hadn't any democratic experience and it is probably bit difficult to adopt western democracy. Flawed democracy or even hybrid regime seems more likely.
Well, South Korea and Taiwan OTL are full democracies))
And TTL Ukrainian post-Nazi regime last longer, than OTL Korean or Taiwanese post-dictature.

Well I just wanted an actual working Democracy in Eastern Europe.

Since Poland and Ostland are already decided to be dictatorships, the Proto-USSR becoming Democratic seems unlikely and Big Georgia is probably a shitfest of nationalities that will probably make OTL Burma look like Argentina by comparison.

Come, paint my World - in Black, Red and Gold [1]

The reactions to the proclaimation of the 2 ,,Volksrepubliks" and the subsequent German ,,Intervention" were varied :

Union of Soviet Socialist Republics : The newly elected President-Chairman Gennady Zyuganov, a known Nationalist and Germanophobe, had long ties to the Rutkowski-aligned Workers' Party, allegedly stretching back decades to when he was the head of the NKVD's department responsible for stirring up dissidence in the Reich's then-occupied Eastern territories. Thus, despite much of the Red World decrying Rutkowski as a ,,fascist thug" he actually gave him an endorsement, warning the Reich that ,,the Tusk Government will not be given any more leniency in the Proletarian sphere of influence" as well as sending a lot of aid to the PPO's Anti Fascist Militias, fighting alongside the Polish Armed Forces. His quick and efficient silencing of any and all political opponents, even higher ups in the KPSS, was a clear sign that the Gagarinite ,,Council Democracy" had a lot of loopholes that more often than not risked slipping into an actual dictatorship.

United States of America : President Romney and Vice President Anderson, being elected to appeal to drasticly different demographics, similarly had significantly different takes on this conflict. The President was harshly against the intervention, seeing it as Germany flexing its muscles and preparing to push into America's sphere of influence again. Meanwhile the more progressive Vice President Anderson made sure to highlight the various unethical actions of the Rutkowski regime, and heavily implied he was in favor of the intervention. Eventualy, a War Scare and a lack of decisive American stance on this issue reflected on the results of the 2014 Midterms, ones that pulled the Public's attention away from Europe.

Kingdom of Italy - the Local public was mostly concerned with a corruption scandal and some issues regarding voting in the recent snap Election so they didn't give much thought to theese events yet. Yet.
Kingdom of Romania and the Federative Republic of Ukraine - both states adopted a technicly neutral but silently Pro-Polish stance, culminating with the Kiev Accords - Romania agreed to take in Civilian Refugees while the Ukrainians went one step further, promising Asylum to any Polish Soldier willing to lie down his arms after the hypothethical defeat of the Republic (hoping to become the base of a new Home Army that could then be a thorn in the Germans' side for the years to come). However, they stopped short of any actual intervention.

Na wschodzie niedługie o Wolności są sny...
In the end, it was clear from the first day of the War that there can only be one ending - the German flag rising above Kielce's bombed out ruins. Still, Poland gave it their best shot. An immidete Draft and martial law were decleared, with Rutkowski personaly announcing that ,,Today, Poland shall either Win or Perish". Polish Troops began to fortify their positions outside the self-proclaimed Volksrepublics, with Law Enforcement units and local citizens already forming partizan groups behind the lines to harras the mostly unprofessional Volkish troops. However, the arrival of the Tried and Tested German Army proved a turning point. In just a month, half of the country had been overrun. The battle of Kielce was hard fought, but eventualy, the city fell - Rutkowski shot himself, ,,Mamona" fled the city for the countryside while most of the Government (and a lot of MPs) had been captured. After the failed counteroffensive in Lublin the Polish Army all but collapsed, and by the end of 2014 the entire country was, at least on paper, under German Control.

Polish society was somewhat split on the issue. While the Left and Center, and even many Righr Wingers shed few tears for Rutkowski and his goons, many more were still Germanophobes and didn't wish to forever fall into Berlin's orbit. While a loose group of Collaborators was established, creating stable structures (like a Pro German Police Force) proved futile as Poles were simply too scarred by the memories of the past. Multiple small partizan groups emerged, most notably the reborn People's Guard funded by Moscow (mostly comprised of the more radical elements of the PPO and the former Workers' Party) and the Pro Rutkowski Self Defense Movement. However, the former oppossition also organized - Rak resurfaced in Lublin in late 2014, and his Retake Poland NOW! (Pol. Odzyskajmy Polskę DZIŚ!) movement also had a militarized wing that got into more than a few scuffles with the German authorities. More Liberal elements also began to militarize and organize, with the Brotherhood Brigades in the Volksrepublics mostly consisting of Poles and Polish-descended Germans.

Another Generation defined by Questions
So yeah, Poland has been mostly pacified and Germany reigns supreme. However, that begs the question - what the Hell do we do now? There were many questions thrown around in New Berlin (formerly Germania) but 3 main ideas emerged :
The Pan Evropanists, mostly moderate Liberals and Christian Democrats, wished to integrate Poles into a new hypothethical superstate - the Evropean Union, a state to rival the resurgent Russians and bold Yankees. In their ideal vision, Poles would simply become another ,,sub culture" of Evropa, kinda like how Latinos in the USA are Americans but retain much of their culture.
The Orthodoxists, a loose coalition of Left Wing Nationalists and Right-to-Far-Right Elements, had a simple program - integrate the Volksrepublics into Germany proper, split off the Goralenvolk as a seperate Republic and then dump the remaining Polish State as an ,,Independent" vassal state, allowed to govern its internal affairs but completly subservient to New Berlin in foreign policy.
The Frankists - the ,,everyone else" group. They mostly wished to do the same as the Orthodoxists, but less overt - give the Poles actual Democracy and do a sort of ,,I scratch your back you scratch mine" policy, where the Poles get Loans for development and in exchange they stay allied to the Germans. They belived in reconciliation between the nations.
However, for now neither group managed to gain an edge over the others. Federal Grand Chancellor Tusk's stance remained unknown at the time.
However, while the story of the Polish Nation may be coming to an end, the Polish People haven't heard no bell.

The Dąbal Brigade parade in Moscow durring the October Revolution celebrations

To the shock of many people, former Partizan and MP (1994 - 1998 Independent, 2006 - 2014 PPO) Mieczysław Wyględowski, a longtime Socialist and open ally of the Workers' Party (who he saw as ,, well intentioned extremists") fled to Moscow and proclaimed a Government in Exile - the Polish Commitee of National Liberation (Polski Komitet Wyzwolenia Narodowego, PKWN), with himself as acting President in Exile. He postulated for a ,,Polish Marxist System" based in Garganinist Council Democracy, and flited with Communist Party Chairman Gomułka's (1945 - 1954, executed by Germans) ideals of ,,National Communism". While he certainly wasn't Zyuganov's favorite, he was moderatly popular with Polish leftists and his Nationalism certainly struck a chord with the ,,Gremlin in the Kremlin" so he decided to go with him anyway.

Meanwhile, over in Romania, former Rutkowski-aligned Right Wingers formed the Council of mutual economic aid (Rada Wzajemnej Pomocy Gospodarczej, RWPG) - nominaly an apolitical organization that only saught to help refugees, but in reality a Government-in-exile whoose Chairman claimed to be the rightful successor to all previous Polish Governments. In a shocking twist, RWPG and PKWN signed an actual ,,accord of mutual understanding" in early 2015, essentialy endorsing an idea of ,,The Enemy of my Enemy is my friend" or rather ,,if we shoot one another now neither of us will ever see their Home or loved ones ever again".

And so, the year is 2015. The sun has set on the Third Polish Republic, another failed state to add to the depressingly long list of Polish experiments at statehood. However, as German Tanks roll down Piłsudski Square in Kielce and the Partizans return to their long abandoned hideouts, the question still remains -

What Now?

The tales of Poles in Germany between 1990 and 2015 are truly something to behold - despite their hardest efforts, the Reich was unable to destroy the Polish Spirit in theese ancestoral lands, ones that had been the heart of many Polish states in the past. Indeed, as the last Fuhrer of Germany was sworn in, the Poles were among the first to take up arms against his regime.

However, it all came at a cost.

(A Polish man takes a smoke in front of his now-ruined House and Car in the village of Bracht, called Strzelce Opolskie until 1939 and Zawierce Górne since 1990)

The few Polish populated regions were harmed durring the later-called ,,Nazi Coup War", with many villages leveled by SS Death Squads and much of the ,,underbelly" of the Industrial Cities like Łódź eraddicated. However, as the War came to a close, much of the German population wasn't better off, and while the balance of population still shifted it wasn't the ,,Phyrric Victory" the Nazis hoped would happen (eg. Podlasie turned from being 44% Polish to being 39% Polish).

166-100837.jpg

(In anticipation of the 1992 German General Election, the first Free Election in 60 years, Poles formed self defence militias [Samoobrona], not to be confused with the future Polish Political party of the same name durring the Rutkowski Era)

While many German MPs and Politicians had Polish roots, very few were as open as Bronisław Kononowicz. Born into a mixed Polish-Belorussian family in the first days of the Second Polish Republic, he fought tooth and nail to dig his way out of the crippling poverty that characterised the lives of most Podlasie residents durring the 20's and 30's. He was drafted into the Military durring the short lived 1939 Defensive War and later became the head of the Anti-Soviet resistance of the Łuna Region. After the region fell into German hands he became the unofficial leader of the local Resistance as the authority of the Exiled Government began to wane. He led the Partizans through the harsh days of the 1940's and 50's, only stopping durring an Amnesty in 1961 amid fading support with the locals as well as an increasingly desperate resource situation. He would become one of the most vocal critics of the Nazi regime and was a frequent ,,guest" in East Prussia's various prisions. Despite being 60 years old when the War broke out he and his old comerades in arms still took up the fight against the Reich, scoring several victories against the disorganized Wehrmacht bands. In 1992 he would be elected to the Bunderstag as an Independent and fought hard for better rights for Poles everywhere, being Re-Elected in 1996 and 2000 with little to no oppossition.

He died of health related complications in late 2004. In the election he endorsed Zbigniew Religa, calling him ,,a good man and fine potential leader despite his faithlessness". His son, Krzysztof, currently serves as the Mayor of WeißeStadt (Białystok) since 2006.

LABOR, KNOWLAGE, STRENGHT - Remain Calm, Telewizja Trwam will resume transmission shortly.

God Bless everyone! I hope you're having a wonderful day. Anyways, this episode we will be talking about someone else - Tadeusz Rydzyk, our benefator and founder. As some of you may know, he was born in 1945 to the Widow of a previously murdered Polish Soldier and one of the Old family friends - Bronisław Kordaszewski, another Polish Soldier who managed to flee the Work Camp that claimed his good pals' life. I know some of you may be upset, even shocked by this, but 1940's occupied Poland was not exactly filled to the brim with Priests and Bureocrats ready to accept your marriage papers. Theese were hard times, and none of us have lived through them - so we don't really have the right to judge our bretheren who had to make hard decisions back then. Anyways, back on topic - the Family was very poor, and the Nazi repressions only made that poverty ten times worse. Both Kordaszewski and his young son turned to the faith, either out of a genuine commitment to Catholicism or to survive. His mother Stanisława would nearly be R###d by the Germans in the mid 50's, which only made the young man despite the occupation further. However, he also saw the need for change with his own people - many of the local Poles were driven into a deep depression by the loss of their Homeland, and so alcoholism and other social ills were very prevelent. His own father drank sometimes, telling tales of the War and shells claiming the lives of his friends.

Theese youth years shaped our Founder into who he eventualy became - a Crusader against both the Material enemy, the Germanic beasts, as well as against the Enemy within - our own ills and sins.

As the Reich began to lean towards total collapse with the Wehrmacht coup, Rydzyk founded multiple chapters of the Samoobrona to help defend local Polish communities - however, he also demanded strict discipline from his troops. When he found one attempting to violate a young recently captured German nurse many say he personaly beat him to death with a Crucifix. He also forced them to limit drinking and smoking, as well as trying to steer them towards the true faith.

Father Rydzyk and Lech Geht, the famous Polish-descended MP and Deputy Federal Grand Chancellor (January - September 1994)

After the Reich collapsed and the Federal Republic was born, Rydzyk was one of the main proponents of a referendum to reunify the former lands of the Second Republic with the Third Republic - however, a crackdown by the Government dashed theese hopes. The only reason he did not activly defy it was the knowlage he now stood for hundreds of thousands of Poles, and did not wish for more bloodshed. Thus, he began working to preserve Polish culture, funding various cultural associations and becoming something of a celebrity - he used this reputation for social camapigns against Alcoholism, and even for founding this very station. He even got a personal meeting with the Pope in 1995! He was an early proponent of Moral Nationalist mass media, funding ,,Dziennik Patrioty" (Patriots' Daily) and this very TV Station - as anyone alive back then will tell you, a Polish language TV Station outside of Poland was a big furry deal.

And the rest is History, as you may know. To this very day, Radio Maryja and TV Trwam are working to preserve the Polish Spirit and our ideals of Christian Democracy in this new, twisted age. The tyrants of the Earth, the Stalins and the Hitlers, as well as our own Demons, the Rutkowskis and the Tusks,

And so, remember, dear listiner - Jeszcze Polska nie zginęła, kiedy my żyjemy! Niech żyję Polska - daj Boże, niech doczeka sądu ostatecznego!

Thank you for listening. TV Trwam, reporting off.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, not all of Poland's contributions to 90's German History were positive.

As the 90's began, the city of Litzmannstadt (or, as Poles insist on calling it, Łódź) was an impoverished trainwreck. It was, in many ways, a microchasm of the Polish Republic being born right next door - the German Middle-to-upper classes feasted on foreign wine and various luxury products while the avarage Kowalski went to bed hungry and naked. Now, some wished to take the proactive approach against this, starting social campaigns and writing petitions. One man, however, decided he'd had enough, and gathered a group of likeminded individuals around him, intending to give the ,,Master Race" a scare.

On the cold night of January 11th, 1992, an old man was reported missing by his German family. The Police quickly responded and entered his apartment, only to find a bloodbath - the Pensioneer was missing, but the area looked like a warzone, with furniture broken down and blood everywhere. Most notably, the Bedroom was painted red, with a single sentence carved into the Wall with some blunt object.

Wrzesień Pomścimy (We will avenge September)

Now, if that was just a one off kill that would have been bad enough - just some Nationalist violence - but things escalated from there. Multiple German Students were kidnapped a week later and found in pieces in the City center Park ; not long after, their Girlfriends followed suit, and then the father of one of the Students after he made an appearance on a German-speaking TV show decrying the ,,Polish no-good rabble". Now things were getting serious.

Eventualy, the investigation got full funding after one more murder - in bright daylight, on midday of February 2nd 1992, the daughter of the Town's Mayor, infamous German Nationalist Gabriel Wachtel [2] was kidnapped and forced into a Black Car that then sped off into the countryside - by the time the dumbfounded bystanders managed to call the Police it was long gone. The next day, a simple letter was found at the Mayor's office, with his Daughter's pinky finger attached for good measure :

,,To the Corrupt Fascist Crook who continues to stain the Cradle of Slavdom,

We have your pig daughter and will not hesistate to kill her. Donate half of your stolen wealth back to the Polish People or else you're not going to see her in one piece again

Sincierly,
a Polish Patriot"

This sparked panic and chaos in the City Council, one that turned into pure rage as the news hit the shelves. Anti-Polish riots began in German-Majority areas, which were quickly countered by Anti-German riots by Polish Self-Defense units. Fascist Militias from the rest of Germany and Polish Volounteers from over the border flooded into the City, clashing in the streets in scenes reminiscent of America's Gang Wars or the political violence of 1930's Spain. However, eventualy, the Police managed to trace the letter to a rundown warehouse in the Downtown areas, and surrounded it.

After a short battle, the building was secure - 2 Police Officers were dead and 4 injured, out of the 5 Defenders only One survived (the leader) and the Mayor's daughter was found horribly mutilated but alive, even if just barely. Soon the prisioner would be brought into a Police interrogation, yelling Patriotic Songs all the way, and the truth would be revealed.

Seweryn Wróbel was born in the late 1950's to a family of newly impoverished Polish intellectuals, constantly persecuted by the Nazi regime. From his youth he was bullied by his peers for his Polish heritage, causing deep wounds in his psychie that would never heal. Later he would go on to squeeze through a heavily racist exam and become a Paramedic in Łódź's Emergency Medical Services. Durring the Nazi Coup War he would see many of his fellow Poles mutilated by the Fascist Forces, and would swear vengence against the Reich and all of their sympathizers. Indeed, he feld betrayed by the fact the newly founded Republic allowed a not unsubstantial number of former low ranking nazis back into the fold, essentialy forgiving their crimes. But they weren't going to be forgiven nor forgotten, he proclaimed.
And so, he found a group of likeminded individuals in the City services - a low ranking Police Clerk, his superior in the EMS, a local Polish Miltia leader and an Archivist in the Town Hall. Together, they would carry out theese ,,revenge killings" in hopes of expelling the Germans and reunifying Łódź with the rest of the Third Republic. Their experience with the bureocracy (as well as German racism, with many subconciously thinking that ,,theese dumb Polish swine" surely couldn't do something this complex right under their noses) to cover up theese murders, only failing when the Archivist got sick with the Flu and was unable to dispose of the proper documents, which eventualy revealed a Paper Trail for the police to follow into the Warehouse.

Swereyn would be executed on the 11th of January 1993, on the First anniversary of his group's initial kill, and would develop a divisive reputation in Polish Nationalist circles, with some calling him a good for nothing crook while others claimed he was well intentioned but scarred by the Germans' actions.

This feud continues on, and will probably go on until the end of time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed, Poles have fought many issues in theese trying times - and have always come out on top, surviving, even thriving. And so, even as 2015 begins and the Third Republic is thrown into the dustbin of History, Hope survives.

Becouse Hope is eternal.

the joke is that the main vocalist for this song is Kukiz
