I'm finally up to date again!
I'd like to know the current states of each of the following ITTL, please:
- Major wrestling championships and their holders
- Computers and their operating systems
- Anime
- Major video game consoles (incl. history)
Pro Wrestling
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) was formed ITTL in 2002 as a restructuring of the World Wrestling Alliance (WWA). The WWA, known in prior years as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), was owned by the McMahon family until the 2001 suicide of Vince McMahon, Jr. Linda McMahon, Vince's widow, runs the business side of AEW while Stephanie and Shane handle the actual booking. The TV rights to AEW are exclusively held by Peacock, with
Monday Night Raw airing on the USA Network and
Friday Night SmackDown and
Saturday Night Main Event airing on NBC. AEW acquired the intellectual property rights to
Wrestlemania shortly after Vinnie Mac's unexpected death.
The National Wrestling Alliance is made up of the territories that did not fall into the hands of the Clan McMahon. The TV rights to the NWA are exclusively held by Disney who run the weekly shows
Rampage and
Dynamite on FX.
World Championship Wrestling (WCW) was previously owned by Turner Broadcasting System but needed to be sold in recent months in order for the Department of Justice to approve the TBS-Paramount merger. WCW is now owned by a sports consortium overseen by Henson chairman Bob Iger. Going forward,
Monday Nitro will air on ESPN, ESPN2 or XYZ while
Thunder will run on ABC.
WCW Saturday Night will air on XYZ.
Total Nonstop Action (TNA) will rebrand in the coming months as simply Impact Wrestling, named after one of its weeknight shows which airs on The Hub.
Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) had a very comfortable home at HBO in the 90's. However, that changed when HBO's parent company Bally gained the rights to TNA/Impact.
The major belt holders at the moment are as follows:
AEW: John Cena
NWA: Shared by Colt Cabana and CM Punk
WCW: Booker T
TNA: Scott Steiner
ECW: Dean Ambrose
Computers
Microsoft, Commodore and Linux are the major operating systems with Commodore being TTL's equivalent of Apple.
Anime
20th Century-Fox (Disney), Lionsgate and New Line Cinema (Saban) are the heavyweights in English translations with a distant fourth being Touchstone (Henson) thanks to its partnership with Ghibli. Bringing up the rear are Warner Bros. and Universal with Paramount barely starting to dip their toes in the dubbing game.
The most popular English translations for each studio are as follows:
20th Century-Fox: Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2, Naruto, Astroboy, Candy Candy, Kimba the White Lion, Maya the Bee
New Line Cinema: Sailor Moon, Robotech, Noozles
Lionsgate: One Piece, Lupin III, Voltron
Warner Bros: Speed Racer, Dragon Ball
Touchstone: Ghibli films
Universal: Cardcaptors
Columbia-TriStar: Angie Girl, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokemon (NOTE: Only Angie Girl was dubbed under the Columbia banner. All others dubbed under the TriStar label as part of partnerships with Nintendo and Hasbro dating back to the early Eighties).
Paramount: Super Milk Chan (Coming later in 2008 to Adult Swim)
Major Console Companies and their current systems
Atari (Disney): Coyote
Nintendo: Revolution (Wii IOTL)
Sega (TBS-Paramount): Scorpio
Panasonic (Matsushita): Pantheon
Panasonic is usually seen a bargain console compared to the other three.
